#MainlandSports: MFM FC bounces back against Nasarawa United

Agege based team, Mountain of Fire and Miracles Ministries Football Club, MFM FC, bounced back from their continental defeat to Djoliba AC of Mali over the weekend to defeat Nasarawa United FC 2-1 in the rescheduled fixture of Matchday 16 in the Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL). The match was played at the Soccer Temple, Agege Stadium, Lagos Mainland on Thursday, April 12, 2018.

The Olukoya Boys scored two goals under three minutes in the first half of the encounter to put the game to beyond the reach of the visitors.

MFM FC opened scoring when Udeh Zinte was fouled by Jide Williams inside the visitor’s box after just six minutes of play and the referee pointed to the spot for a penalty. Udeh dusted himself put the ball beyond Suraj Ayeleso in goal for Nasarawa United.

Julius Emiloju scored the second goal of the game three minutes after Zinte’s goal following a good counterattacking move.

The Solid Miners came out very strong in the second half as they poured forward searching for goals and their effort paid off when Nwani Ikechukwu reduced the deficit for the visitors with a fine finish after receiving a pass from Victor Okoro in the 74th minute of the encounter.

Before the equaliser, MFM FC goalkeeper Folarin Abayomi had denied the Lafia-based side a chance to score when he pulled off a big save from a long range effort from Mayaki Ismaila.

Kabiru Dogo’s men pressurized MFM’s defence with series of attacking displays but the Olukoya Boys were brilliant with their good defensive play.

The win over Nasarawa United took MFM from 15th to 10th position on the log with 22 points from 14 league games. They play Djoliba FC of Mali next for a slot in the group stages of the CAF Confederation Cup next Wednesday. They currently trail in the playoff tie by 1 goal.
