Prepaid Metering: Here’s what Somolu LG boss told aggrieved residents

For residents of Somolu community, Lagos Mainland, the demand to have prepaid meters have continued to linger in the community for a long time. However, few days ago, some residents have begun to get the meters while some others haven’t.

As a result of the ensuing complaints, the Executive Chairman of Somolu Local Government, Hon. AbdulHamed Salawu aka Dullar, urged the residents to cooperate with officials of Ikeja Electric, the power distribution company (DISCO) covering Somolu and other areas.

The council boss who expressed confidence on the distribution and installation team said: “Since the prepaid meter is free, it is better to have for commercial and domestic purpose. It will enable everyone to control their electricity consumption.

“Those who are yet to the meters should be patient as the installation team will touch all houses in Somolu in a little time.”

Furthermore, the Hon. Salawu implored residents who are not satisfied with the service or charges of Ikeja Electric to channel their complaints to their area office at Savoil in Obanikoro on Ikorodu road.

“Anyone that is not comfortable with their bills or services should not fight officials. Complaints should be channeled to their office because they have responsible managers”, he said.
