#MainlandSports: MFM FC suffers shocking setback in CAF Confederations Cup quest

The quest by Agege based side, Mountain of Fire and Miracles Ministries Footall Club, MFM FC, to play in the group stages of the CAF Confederations Cup suffered a huge setback today, Sunday, April 8, 2018, after the team lost at home to visiting side, Djoliba AC of Mali.

MFM FC who dropped into the qualifying rounds of the CAF Confederations Cup after a 7 – 2 aggregate loss of MC Alger of Algeria in the CAF Champions League qualifying rounds lost at home by a 1 goal margin to their Malian counterparts.

The Olukoya Boys who have won all their home matches in the CAF continental games this season were in a shadow of themselves as the visitors stole the day with a slim victory.

Djoliba AC pipped MFM FC to victory courtesy of Mohamed Cisse’s 75th-minute strike helping the visitors take a vital away victory into the return leg in Mali.

To ensure the team enters into the Confederations Cup group stages, MFM FC needs to win in Mali in the forthcoming second leg scheduled for Mali next weekend.

This is the first time Djoliba AC will be picking a good result in Nigeria after their poor run against sides such as Shooting Stars, Warri Wolves, and Sunshine Stars among several others in recent years.

Presently, MFM have won six games, lost six and drawn one in the ongoing NPFL season with all the wins coming from the Soccer Temple, Agege Stadium, Lagos Mainland.
