There was palpable fear in Ibeshe community, Ikorodu, Lagos Mainland, earlier today, Friday, April 6, 2018, after youths in the community were engaged in a deadly clash with members of Ibasa, another riverine community in the area.
InsideMainland gathered from a Police source that the fight which started at the community beach as a result of a dispute between two teenagers from the communities started in the morning before it degenerated into a big one.
Although there was no fatal loss in the fracas, the youths were said to have inflicted injuries on persons who were caught in the brawl.
The fight led to residents making a distress call to the Police with the operatives of the Rapid Response Squad (RRS) deploying officers to the scene to restore normalcy to the area.
A source in the RRS told InsideMainland that the team received the distress call from residents who were in shock about the fight and immediately mobilized to the area to fight the crime.
“We got information about the fight from residents and when we got there, we met the presence of the team from Area L Command,” the source said.
“There was no major fatality in the fight but some of the youths were injured in the process. The team ensured there was peace in the community before moving out of the place,” the source further disclosed.
Presently, there is police presence across parts of the community with the Commander Area L, ACP Lanre Ishola leading several teams of police officers to the two communities to prevent a further clash.
