IN IKORODU: Federal lawmaker doles out food bags to 500 beneficiaries

The Federal lawmaker representing Ikorodu Constituency in the House of Representatives, Hon. Jimi Benson held the monthly food donation to widows and less privileged ones in the community yesterday, Saturday, March 24, 2018, at his constituency office in Ikorodu, Lagos Mainland.

The food rationing also known as ‘Aapo Anu’ is put together by the lawmaker’s iCare Foundation and have held consistently for 18 months with beneficiaries drawn across communities such as Ikorodu, Imota, Ijede, Igbogbo and more.

During the food distribution, more than 500 residents benefited from the exercise with aged ones alongside widows all receiving food packs.

In his remarks, Hon. Jimi Benson said; “It is our responsibility, not only as a nation, but also as individuals, to get involved in helping one another. So next time you pass someone on the street who is in need, remember how lucky you are, and don’t turn away.” he advised.

Also speaking at the event, the manager of the project, Mayor Deen Sanwoola, said the initiative is aimed at ensuring the aged ones do not go hungry in the community. He however implored residents to suggest more names of widows and aged ones who can also be beneficiaries of the initiative.
