#MainlandSports: MFM FC claim big home win over Heartland

A goal each from Stanley Okorom, Chuka Uwaga and Tchato Giscard was more than enough for Agege based side, Mountain of Fire and Miracles Ministries FC to claim a big win over Heartland FC in the Matchday 12 of the Nigeria Professional Football League(NPFL) played yesterday, Sunday, March 11, 2018, at the Soccer Temple, Agege Stadium.

The lively encounter saw the hosts get an early goal from the spot in the 8th minute of the exchange when Ismaila Jimoh handled the ball inside the 18-yard box and centre referee, Isaac Ogaba had no option than to point to the spot. Okorom stepped forward and sent Japheth Opubo the wrong way.

With less than 10 minutes to end the first half, MFM FC had a chance to double the lead but Jesse Akila’s effort after beating Naze Millionaire’s defender could not find the back of the net as his shot hit the crossbar.

Two quick changes were made in the early minutes of the second half as MFM FC look for a way to get the second goal. Chijioke Akuneto and Nojeem Akinyemi were introduced for Akanni Elijah and Jesse Akila.

The hosts went forward on several occasions with arrays of attacking display in search of goals but Heartland defenders were on their toes dealing with all the attacks from the Lagos-based team.

MFM FC got the second goal of the game in the 63rd minute via a powerful header from center-back, Uwaga who rose to a cross from Zikiye to give his team a comfortable lead.

Heartland upped their game after conceding the second goal and they nearly get a goal on 68 minutes but were denied by the woodwork as Nnamdi Egbujor’s shot from inside box hit the crossbar.

Adebayo Waheed was substituted for Muyiwa Balogun in the 80th minute and the forward made his impact felt troubling the away team’s defence with his dribbling skills.

Tchato Giscard scored the third goal of the thrilling encounter for the Olukoya Boys in the three minutes of the added time with a nice tap in off a brilliant pass from substitute Balogun.
