#MainlandSports: MFM FC earns crucial result in CAF Champions League

Lagos based side, Mountain of Fire and Miracles Ministries FC recorded a fantastic result in their debut match in the 2018 CAF Champions League preliminary round match against AS Real Bamako of Mali yesterday, Sunday, February 11, 2018.

In the encounter played at the Stade Modibo Keita Stadium, Mali, the Olukoya Boys put up a spirited performance against the Malian team who were very dominant for the entirety of the game and ran away with a point.

The first 12 minutes of the game saw the Scorpions creating the first goal opportunity of the match as Mamadou Seck’s header from a well delivered cross hit the crossbar.

Three minutes after Mamadou’s attempt, Akinyemi Nojeem put MFM FC in front with a lovely strike after connecting a pass from Okorom Stanley.

The hosts responded quickly in the 17th minute of the proceedings with Mohammed Camara scoring his team’s only goal of the game via a powerful header.

The keenly contested tie continued with AS Real Bamako mounting pressure on MFM FC in the second half of the game. The Agege based side however soaked all the pressure with great defending and claimed a crucial away result on their debut on the continent.

Speaking after the game, the manager of the side, Fidelis Ilechukwu praised his team’s spirited performance adding that the result puts his side in a better position ahead of the second leg of the encounter at the Soccer Temple, Agege, Lagos Mainland.
