Residents of Igando community, Lagos Mainland, have showered encomiums on the current divisional police officer of Igando police station, Mr. Rawlings Sufade, for his role in reducing the crime rate in the community.
According to the residents, the DPO and his gallant officers despite the challenges confronting the Police force has returned peace the once-troubled Igando community, Lagos Mainland.
The CDA and residents stressed that before his assumption of office, the crime rate in Igando was on the high side, as people could not walk through some streets either early in the morning or late at night.
The General-Secretary of the CDA, Olu lawal, stated that he had lived in the town for over 20 years and that the community had never witnessed such whole scale and tactical approach toward crime prevention from a DPO.
“Clashes among rival cult groups which was frequent in the town had become a thing of the past while several of them had been chased out of their hideout. I can tell you that Igando is now crime free.
“You cannot have a hundred percent crime-free society, but what we have now cannot be compared with our experience in the past. I have live in this locality for twenty years so am taking from experience,” he said.
Also speaking, another resident, Babafemi Fakeye said the drop in crime rate in Igando could also be traced to the presence of more police officers in strategic locations in the community.
“What have happened is that we see more officers going around on patrol especially at night and more officers are on the road. The police officers are also in strategy locations now in Igando unlike in the past. All these happened since the current DPO came into office. I personally don’t like the way our police are doing, but for once, we should commend this man”, Fakeye said.
