In the early hours of today, December 6, 2017, a family of four – father, mother and two children – were involved in a fire incident which claimed the lives of the entire Eze family.
The incident occurred at the family’s residence located at no. 13, Buraimaoh Street Bariga, Lagos Mainland.
Confirming the incident, the Director of Lagos State Fire Service, Rasak Fadipe, said the incident occurred at about 2.48 am adding that his team got to the fire scene immediately they received the information.
He further disclosed that the burglary proofs in the apartment prevented the rescue officers from getting to the victims early enough.
“The apartment is a chemist store. The father, mother, and two children of ages five and eight were found dead inside the store,” he said.
Fadipe added that “we advise that although one needs security in his or her house or business place, it should not be to the detriment of the people. Members of the family should always know the exit of their apartment whenever there is an emergency.”
Although the cause of the fire outbreak is still unknown, some neighbors said it may be caused by candle light while others are of the opinion that the fire started after electricity supply was restored to the area.
