Notice heavy police presence in your area? Don’t panic,it’s for your safety says LAGS Commissioner of Police

We can recall that over the past months, cases of traffic robbery within Lagos state has become a call for concern to the general public, of which the attention of the Lagos State Police Command has been called upon several times. Meanwhile, the Lagos State Commissioner of Police, Edgal Imohimi, and the entire operatives of the Police Command, in efforts to beef up security within the state have put up strategic measures to fight this recurring problem in the state.

Speaking on the robberies, CP Imohimi stated, “The Lagos State Police Command wishes to announce to members of the public that they should not be unduly concerned with the increased presence of policemen across the state, including the location of patrol vehicles at strategic traditional points.

“These measures are meant to checkmate the activities of hoodlums and other social vices especially on routes with traffic snares occasioned by construction works and port operation issues, especially the Oshodi/Gbagada Expressway, Apapa, Ilupeju, Mile 2, Apongbon, Lagos Mainland and among other strategic locations within the State,” He said.

He also confirmed that over 28 traffic robbery suspects were apprehended last Friday, November 10, 2017, at Oshodi, Lagos Mainland and will appear in court for prosecution. He also mentioned that the extensive measures will be taken to ensure swift prosecution of apprehended suspects.

Finally, the Police Commissioner, urged members of the public to go about their usual day to day activities, but at the same time remain vigilant and work with the police to eradicate crime in the state by reporting any abnormal activity in their within their vicinity.
