Mainland superstars take centre stage at AFRIMA Music Village 2017

It was a display of breathtaking performances from superstar music acts from the Lagos Mainland at the All Africa Music Awards Music Village 2017 which held yesterday, Friday, November 10, 2017.

Music stars such as Sound Sultan, Dr. Adewale Ayuba, Oritsefemi, Seriki, Myro, Saheed Osupa, and Wale Thompson took turns to deliver spectacular performances by performing a medley of their songs to the delight of onlookers present.

The highlight of the night was when Dr. Adewale Ayuba mounted the stage to perform his classics such as ‘Bonsue Fuji’, ‘Ijo Fuji’ among other chart toppings songs. His performance drew loud applauses from the audience who sang along as he delivered his lines.

In addition, teenage dance group, Rock of David, based in Ikorodu, Lagos Mainland, became the cynosure of all eyes when they mounted the stage for a group dance.

The teenagers were celebrated by guests present who all chanted while they danced.

Meanwhile, at the Africa Music Business Roundtable, AMBR, which held earlier in the day, the speakers commended the relentless work of AFRIMA in promoting African music, culture and creative enterprise in Africa.

In his remarks, the Managing Director, Trace Anglophone, West Africa, Samo Onyemelukwe said that capacity development in the entertainment industry in Africa is part of the goals of Trace TV. He encouraged music artistes to develop a huge local base at home instead of making huge music investments with worldwide tours.

Onyemelukwe added that more investments need to be plugged in to develop and create music content in Africa. He also said that they have launched a digital streaming platform, Trace Play, which gives subscribers access to over 200 entertainment channels affiliated to Trace.
