Update: Heavily armed Policemen take over Ikeja GRA home of Mushin lawmaker

Following the alleged forceful eviction of the lawmaker representing Mushin Constituency 1 in the Lagos House of Assembly, Hon. Funmilayo Tejuosho from her Ikeja GRA home, InsideMainland can authoritatively report that armed security operatives have taken over the apartment.

Earlier today, news filtered in that armed policemen fired tear gas while forcefully breaking down doors and other items at the lawmaker’s residence located at 3, Sasegbon Street, GRA, Ikeja, Lagos Mainland.

The reports had it that the officers at the same time disconnected electricity supply to the house in a bid to evict the occupants of the property.

However, relative peace had returned to the area located few meters away from the popular Sobo Aroiodu street, Ikeja GRA, Lagos Mainland, when our correspondent visited the house.

With heavily armed policemen strategically positioned at different points in front of the property, the main gate leading to the house was left in chains. Also, there was little or no activity in the house as the gate was chained from outside.

A source who spoke to InsideMainland confirmed that Police presence has been around the property for more than 24 hours. “The Police has been there for a while and people who have no business in the house are not allowed to get close,” the source said.

“They (Policemen) first came during the weekend and the occupants of the building were asked to move out. There was a form of argument in the process but it was later settled and the Police locked the gate to the house.

“Sometimes, the gates would be opened and some cars would drive out and then return after a little while,” the source added.

Meanwhile, the source disclosed that the lawmaker has been out of the apartment for a while as her convoy hasn’t been sighted in the area days before the visit by the security operatives.

Recall that InsideMainland earlier reported that the eviction was carried out by security agents attached to Lagos State Government.

More so, it was learnt that the said property was assigned to Hon. Tejuosho during her tenure as the Deputy Speaker of the Lagos State House of Assembly. However, following her impeachment, the lawmaker rather than vacate the premises, acquired the property and converted it into her private residence.

Hon. Tejuosho reportedly acquired the building in the name of her company during the Babatunde Raji Fashola administration in Lagos.
