The Lagos State Government on Thursday, November 2, 2017, announced the appointment of Secretaries to the Local Governments (SLGs) and Supervisors for the 20 Local Governments and 37 Local Council Development Areas in the State.

The appointment is coming more than three months after the conclusion of the highly anticipated July 22 local government elections which held across the state.

Speaking on the appointments, the Secretary to the State Government (SSG), Mr. Tunji Bello in a statement obtained by InsideMainland, said the State Governor, Mr. Akinwunmi Ambode, authorised the release of the newly appointed SLGs and Supervisors.

He revealed that the process was in line with the provisions of the Lagos Local Government Administration Law and the Guidelines for Administrative Procedures for Local Government.

Bello said “the appointment of the SLGs and Supervisors will aid the councils to hit the ground running to further deepen democratic values and culture at the grassroots in line with the present administration’s policy thrust of community-based governance and government of inclusion.”

In addition, he also assured Lagosians that all the Boards of the State Government Agencies and Parastatals would soon be constituted.

Bello expressed optimism that the constitution of the Boards would further strengthen the present administration’s capacity to deliver the dividends of democracy to the people of Lagos State.
