Motorists plying the usually busy Ikorodu Road, Lagos Mainland, were stuck in a traffic jam moments ago following an accident that occurred at the Palmgroove end of the expressway.
InsideMainland gathered that the traffic gridlock was due to an auto accident involving a tanker, a Nissan Xterra SUV and a motorcycle. Luckily, there were no casualties in the accident.
The SUV somersaulted as a result of the collision with the tanker with the front windshield and vender affected. In addition, the tanker also fell with motorcycle damaged.
Although, InsideMainland cannot independently verify the cause of the incident, a member of the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA) who spoke to InsideMainland confirmed that no life was lost in the incident.
“The accident occurred on the expressway at the Palmgroove bus stop. The tanker fell and the Nissan too was affected. No one was injured in the process,” the source said.
Presently, rescue officers of the Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA) and officials of the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA) are at the scene to remove affected vehicles and also ensure free flow of traffic.
