Apprehension as security guards murder resident in Surulere

There was pandemonium in Ikenne Street, Surulere, Lagos, on Saturday, October 14, 2017, after residents of the area discovered the body of an Uber driver dumped in the area by unidentified men.

The deceased, Utibe Akpan, who is also a resident of the area, was allegedly killed by security guards who also dumped his body in the booth of his car before he was dropped on Folawiyo Bankole street. The killers later fled with the deceased’s car, InsideMainland gathered.

“The discovery of the deceased’s remains led to apprehension in the community. The residents informed the Police before they came to pick the body away from the place,” a source told InsideMainland.

“The killers stabbed him before dumping his body by the roadside. An identity card belonging to one of the security guards was also found and the Police has launched a manhunt for the suspects,” the source added.

However, one of the suspects was arrested by the residents earlier today, Tuesday, October 17, 2017.

The suspect was apprehended in the early hours of this morning with angry residents pouncing on him. He was almost beaten to pulp before security operatives arrived the scene.

Confessing to the crime, the suspect told the residents that he alongside one Ibrahim Abionu aka Horror whose identity card was found at the incident scene and another unidentified man committed the act.

It was learnt that while the suspect was been interrogated by the residents, Horror was repeatedly calling him.

The third suspect is also on the run while the deceased’s car is yet to be retrieved.

The arrested suspect was however whisked away by the Police operatives.
