In the aftermath of the barbaric killings and how ritualists belonging to the dreaded Badoo gang wreaked havoc in Ikorodu community, the lawmaker representing Ikorodu Constituency I in the Lagos State House of Assembly, Hon. Sanai Agunbiade has recounted efforts which led to the end of ritual killings in the community.
Hon. Agunbiade who spoke during a Constituency Stakeholders Meeting themed ‘True Representation and Accountability’ said he galvanised community leaders to take some ‘behind the scene’ measures which brought an end to Badoo killings in the town.
“We were troubled by Badoo, but we all played a prominent role behind the scene and Badoo killing has stopped forever,” he said.
He continued saying “I also took it upon myself to stop militancy in our community. We have continued to improve on our legislative competences and accomplishments over the past two years.
“We have also initiated various legislations effectively addressing challenges such as ritual killings, kidnapping, land grabbing, armed robbery and other crime related issues.”
Hon. Agunbiade, however, added that the stakeholders meeting was organised to strengthen participatory democracy.
Recall that residents of Ikorodu, Ibeshe, Odogunyan, Olu – Odo and neighbouring communities have been consistently terrorized by the Badoo cult gang for several years.
The continuous killings have led to house owners fleeing their homes to avoid been wiped out by the deadly assailants. Meanwhile, relative peace has since returned to Ikorodu and the troubled communities.
