UNILAG dons call on FG to act on MoU with China

Stakeholders at the commemoration of China’s 68th anniversary organized by Confucius Institute, University of Lagos, UNILAG, on Thursday, October 5, 2017 called on the Federal Government to quicken its steps in respect of the pending Memorandum of Understanding, MoU, it signed with China in other to promote stronger ties between the two countries.

The anniversary was well attended by stakeholders, professors of the institute and UNILAG dons such as the Directors of Confucius Institute, Prof. Chindindu Maduagwu and Prof. Wang Youngjing; immediate past Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Management) University of Lagos, Prof Duro Oni; Nigeria’s former Ambassador to China, Amb. Jonathan Coker and a former Director, Nigerian Institute of Foreign Affairs, NIFA, Prof. Bola Akinterinwa.

Declaring the event open, Prof. Maduagwu and Prof. Youngjing said the institute aims to promote Chinese-Nigeria relationship through sharing of knowledge, languages, culture and skills in a formalised institution.

Prof. Youngjing said: “We are happy that China’s relationship with Nigeria is felt in the country through our companies here and through Nigerian companies in China.”
