LASG calls on residents to be safety conscious as harmattan approaches

As part of efforts to ensure the safety of lives and property within the state, the Lagos State Government has appealed to all residents to be more safety conscious as we approach the harmattan and dry season in order avert fire disaster.

Mr Kehinde Bamigbetan, Special Adviser to the Governor on Communities and Communications, Speaking at the monthly interaction session organized by the State Ministry of Local Government and Community Affairs for the Community Development Communities, Community Development Association and other stakeholders at the Lagos Island Local Government Secretariat appealed to Lagosians to be proactive and conscious in handling technical and electronic appliances.

He added that Lagosians must be careful as a little spark during harmattan could cause fire outbreak which can lead to loss of lives and valuables.

Bamigbetan who lauded efforts of the State Government on safety campaigns and awareness through its relevant agencies also urged Lagosians to support the State’s various developmental projects across all the Local Government.

Meanwhile, the Director of Lagos Fire Service, Mr Adeshina Semiu in his remarks advised Lagos residents to be careful as most fire outbreak cases are as a result of electrical carelessness.

He urged Lagosians to ensure they have fire extinguishers and detectors in their offices, homes and vehicles for use in case of any fire outbreak and also stated that call emergency toll lines 112 or 767 are free.
