Ahead of the celebration of the 2017 edition of the annual Felebration; an event which attracts thousands of visitors from across the world, the handlers of the event have released the first list of performers that will grace the occasion this year.
For this year’s event, the first set of performers billed to thrill onlookers at the event include multiple award winner performer, Stevie Wonder, Wyclef, Alicia Keys, Sauti Sol from Kenya, Femi Kuti, Seun Kuti, Fela’s dance queens, Bez and German-based Nigerian singer, Neka.
In addition, the annual Felabration music night scheduled to hold on Friday, October 13, 2017 at the New Africa Shrine, Ikeja will feature Femi Kuti, his brother Seun, Bez and international singer, Neka.
Felabration is an annual afrobeat music festival held in the heart of Ikeja, Lagos Mainland. The event is a week-long tribute to the great Fela Anikulapo-Kuti and usually holds in the week of the birthday of the late singer.
Themed ‘The Prophecy’, this year’s edition of the event will hold between 9th and 15th of October, 2017, and will celebrate the 20 year remembrance of Late Fela Anikulapo-Kuti.
The much-anticipated concert will comprise of secondary school debate between private and public schools (where the winner goes home with a drum set as opposed to a computer which has been the take home prize in recent years), a symposium by Prof Patrick Lumumba, a dancing competition and street carnival. The activities lined up also include dress like Fela street festival, Afrobeat dance competition, international art competition, a documentary on Felabration since its inception, tourist package covering Fela’s live spaces, fundraising exercise, and a seven-day musical concert.
