The Mainland part of Lagos is known for its funky, lively and interesting activities. It is not a surprise that the ‘The Suya Carnival” is taking place on the Mainland.
The Lagos State governor, Mr Akinwumi Ambode in conjunction with the Lagos State Ministry of Arts and Culture, has announced plans to host the Lagos City Suya Carnival in commemoration of Independence day celebration. This carnival, in its first edition is aimed at celebrating the spirit of Lagos.
Suya, as we all know, did not originate from Lagos but we will all agree that the average Lagos Mainland community has a resident Suya Mallam or Suya joint.
The carnival is scheduled to hold at Alausa Shopping Mall Obafalabi Street on Sunday, October 1, 2017, in celebration of Nigeria’s Independence Day.
To spice up activities for the carnival, an arm wrestling contest will also be taking place where participants will show their strength by sitting opposite each other with one elbow each on a table, clasp hands, and try to force the other’s hand onto the table.
