Two persons have been confirmed dead in Alaba Rago community, Okokomaiko – Lagos, following a disagreement between an unidentified Suya seller and one Bashiru Ahmed.
It was learnt that on Friday, September 14, 2017, trouble ensued at the Suya spot after an argument between the Suya seller and Bashiru Ahmed who is the son of Sarki Hausawa of Okokomaiko.
Police sources gathered that Bashiru and his gang angrily upturned the Suya seller’s wares after accusing the Suya seller of laughing at him; a claim which the Suya seller denied, stating that, he was laughing at another man who fell into the gutter.
It was learnt that the Suya seller and some sympathizers went to complain to Bashiru’s father, the who promised to pay for the wares but the Suya seller declined the compensation.
However, the following day, the Suya seller was mysteriously shot and killed by two unknown assailants, Police sources revealed.
Following the murder, the security operatives swung into action and arrested Bashiru Ahmed on suspicions of being involved in the murder.
Also, at about 12 noon, yesterday, Sunday, September 17, 2017, the RRS reported that some irate youths in protest to the killing of the Suya seller set the palace of the Sarki ablaze and killed an associate of Bashiru Ahmed.
In the aftermath of all these pandemonium and lawlessness, operatives of the Rapid Response Squad (RRS) mobilized to the area to prevent further reprisal attacks and to ensure normalcy returns to the community.
InsideMainland gathered that the Area commander Area E Command, ACP Auwal Musa, the commander RRS, ACP Tunji Disu and officers of OP Messa were part of the team mobilized to the community to maintain peace.
Also, the operatives held various meetings with elders of the community in efforts to broker peace.
