Less than two months since the conclusion of the council elections across the 20 and 37 LG areas in Lagos State, a local government area has witnessed the first moving of camps in the political structure in the State.
Earlier today, Tuesday, September 12, 2017, popular Agege LG councilor representing Ward E, Hon. Kabiru Odejobi better known as OKCO has defected to All Progressives Congress (APC) from Accord Party.
The defection by the lawmaker was made official during the Agege Legislative Arm sitting which held at the council secretariat today, Tuesday, September 12, 2017.
Prior to the eventual announcement by the clerk, the defection developments was muted amongst politicians and other key stakeholders in Agege.
The process was witnessed by newly elected Agege LG chairman, Hon. Ganiyu Kola Egunjobi, House Leader, Hon. Kola Anigbajumo, women leader, Chief Mrs Bola Britto, her assistant, Alhaja Amina Aramide Abdulsalam, and many others.
Hon. Odejobi was subsequently welcomed to the party by Agege APC Party Chairman, Hon. Wale Adeyeye.
The development has however led to different reactions among party faithfuls in the community. According to Fijabi Hassan, “we knew this will happen. APC should, however, watch out for PDP because we are about to chase them in Agege.”
Another Agege resident, Adeleye Olaide said “this is what I call ‘politricks’ and that is why it has no permanent friend or permanent foe. I understand what informed his decision to defect – one in a majority is a defeat.”
To Elizabeth Ikwegbulam, the situation is nothing to worry about as she said: “When I hear decamp, I just laugh because all political parties in Nigeria are just one.”
