Few days after the official announcement of Mr. Imohimi Edgal as the new Police Commissioner in Lagos State, the Police chief has reiterated his desire to ensure Ikorodu community threatened by the continuous Badoo ritual killings and the State is rid of every form of criminality.
During a meeting with stakeholders in Ikorodu community as part of the activities to smoothen his operations in office, the Police Commissioner vowed that he would ensure persons found guilty of crimes in the State including the arrested alleged owner of the Badoo shrine discovered in Agbowa – the outskirts of Ikorodu – Alhaji Alaka Abayomi, would be prosecuted to serve as a deterrent to others.
While issuing a stern warning that there was no hiding place for criminals in Ikorodu and other parts of the State, Edgal stressed that persons who leave their domain to establish ritualist and fraudulent shrines in the region would meet their doom.
“A situation where strangers would come and set up shrines for the purpose of rituals and fraudulent activities are over. It took a lot of hardwork to penetrate Agbowa shrine. It was a spiritual problem. At the moment, forensic experts are carrying out investigations into the criminal aspects of the shrine,” he said.
He added that: “I decided to open its existence to the world so that nobody would be able to kill the case. I would have gone there quietly if I wanted to cover it. A lot of entreaties have been made and some stupid people have attempted to offer me money.
“They do not know my background, if they did, they won’t do that. I will send that man to jail.”
Furthermore, Edgal noted that there would be enhanced Police presence in Ikorodu, adding that most of the police posts in the community would soon be converted to stations.
