An Ebute Meta Magistrates’ Court yesterday, Tuesday, August 15, 2017, remanded in prison custody, one Mrs Doris Ibukun, wife of Julius Omoni, one of the alleged masterminds of the Epe Model College kidnapping.

The suspect was remanded in custody by Magistrate Oluyemisi Adelaja pending the perfection of her bail conditions.

Mrs Ibukun was arraigned before the court for allegedly failing to report her husband’s criminal activities to the Police. She is facing a two-count charge of aiding and abetting criminal activities.

However, Mrs Ibukun, a trader, denied the allegation on the claims that she had no knowledge her husband was involved in kidnapping. It was learnt that at the time of the incident, the accused resided at Ile Aanu Street, Omileye in Ondo State.

The Police prosecutor, Chinalu Ueadion, said the accused committed the offence on May 25 at Igbonla in Epe, Lagos State.

Ueadion said that the accused failed to inform the police and other security agents of her husbands’ alleged involvement in the crime. He also said that the offence was contrary to Section 8 of the Lagos State Anti-Kidnapping Law, 2017.
