Police introduces whistle blower policy to check Badoo activities

As part of measures to tackle the menace of Badoo cult killing and jungle justice in Ikorodu community, the Lagos State Police Command has introduced a whistle blowing policy to the resident.

This new development was disclosed yesterday, August 2 2017, by the State Commissioner of Police Mr. Fatai Owoseni, at Ibeshe area of Ikorodu during a tour of the community, He said the policy was needed to tackle the impunity of jungle justice and Badoo cult killings in Ikorodu.

Owoseni however emphasised the need for residents of Ikorodu to be security conscious in the wake of the killings in the ancient town.

The Commissioner also challenged the residents to prove that the killings in the different parts of Ikorodu were for ritual purpose, pointing out that the police did not have a clear evidence of the motives behind the killings.

He said that the police were yet to see any member of the Ikorodu community who gave details of how any of the victims was killed in all the incidents recorded in the area.

He, therefore, urged the residents to clear their surroundings of thick bushes, which, according to him, may aid the easy movement of the perpetrators of the killings at night.

Owoseni also advised the residents to introduce “Operation Know Your Neighbours.”

He also advised them to form groups and visit residents, who stay in remote areas of the community.

The commissioner warned against impunity and jungle justice. He urged the residents to hand over suspects to the police for further investigations rather than mob such suspects.
