A 35-year-old delivery man, Charles Akinsipe, a resident of Ogba, Ikeja, is standing trial at the Ikeja Magistrate Court, for allegedly stealing parcels worth N529,000 from his employer, Jumia Company. The accused pleaded not guilty.
The prosecutor, Raji Akeem, told the court that the defendant was caught on Wednesday, July 19, on Acme Road, Ogba, Ikeja. He said that the defendant tells customers to pay into his personal account, instead of paying into the company’s bank account.
Akeem said when the company discovered that the defendant had been stealing from them, they reported the matter to the police and the accused was arrested.
According to the prosecutor, the offence contravenes Section 287 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015 (revised).
The Magistrate, T.O Shomade, granted the defendant bail at N100,000 with two sureties in like sum and adjourned the case till Tuesday, August 15 2017.
