Here is how the newly elected council chairmen spent their first hours in office

Following the swearing – in ceremony of the newly elected Local Government Chairmen by the state governor, Governor Akinwunmi Ambode yesterday, July 25 2017, council chairmen headed to their various LG offices for a more robust handing over ceremony by the Sole Administrators of the councils.

Across the council secretariats, there was a mild celebration which involved the constituents, political office holders, party chieftains and other dignitaries in the community.

In Agege LG, it was a double celebration for the newly elected Executive Chairman Alh. Abdulganiyu Kola Egunjobi as the event coincided with his 43rd birthday celebration. He was ushered into the secretariat by the outgoing Sole Administrator, Hon. Gbenga Abiola who had handled the affairs of the local government for more than 14 months.

Also, residents of Ifako Ijaiye LG were on hand to witness the triumphant return into office of the newly elected Chairman, Apostle Toba Oke. Similarly, Hon. Tijani Hammed who were welcomed amidst pomp and pageantry by residents, political officers and relatives at Ojokoro LCDA where he received the handing over note from Dr. Adeleke Ipaye, the Sole Administrator of the LCDA.

There were similar celebrations in Ikorodu, Lagos Mainland, Alimosho, Ikosi – Isheri, Kosofe and Odi – Olowo among other local government areas as the handing over event provided a platform for the newly elected officers to jubilate with their constituents and others.

Meanwhile, the newly elected chairmen held the swearing – in ceremonies for their councillors across the 57 Local Council Development Areas (LCDAs) today, Wednesday, July 26, 2017.
