The Yaba College of Technology (YABATECH), Lagos, on Thursday, July 20 2017, matriculated 9,236 students for the 2016/2017 academic session. The number of matriculates includes 2,990 Higher National Diploma and 6, 246 National Diploma students.
Mrs. Magret Ladipo, the Rector of the institution, said that the event marked the formal admission of the candidates as bonafide students of the college. “You must at all times ensure you abide by the oath, thereby shunning all forms of anti-social activities such as cultism, examination malpractice and other unruly behaviour’’ she said.
Ladipo charged the students to shun all forms of distraction, take their studies very seriously, and to let reading and learning be their sole preoccupation in order to graduate in flying colours.
The Rector further said that the college would clock 70 in August 2017, but the anniversary celebrations would commence in October 2017.
Speaking with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), Miss Funmilayo Hassan, an ND 1 student of the Office Technology and Management Department, said she was happy to matriculate, promising to abide by the rules and regulations of the school and hopes to come out with distinction to make her parents proud.
