Taskforce arrests suspect for attempting to kidnap toddler in Oshodi

The operatives of the Lagos State Environmental Sanitation and Special Offences (Enforcement) Unit better known as Lagos State force have arrested a man, Idama Endurance for allegedly abducting a 6 toddler, Darasimi Akinyemi, at No 55, Oshodi Road, Oshodi, Lagos.

According to a press material signed by the Public Relations Officer (PRO) of the Agency, Adebayo Taofiq, the suspect was arrested during a midnight patrol by officers of the Taskforce.

Commenting on the development, the Chairman of the Task Force, SP Olayinka Egbeyemi, disclosed that the suspect would have been lynched to death but for the quick intervention of his men who were on duty who saved the situations.

Egbeyemi disclosed that further preliminary investigations conducted by the Agency revealed that the suspect who stays in the same compound with the mother of the child illegally entered her room at mid-night to commit the act.

Narrating the incident, the mother of the baby, Mrs. Banke Akinyemi said the suspect entered into her room at midnight while she was asleep and took her baby from her side.

She told the operatives that the cry of her baby that woke her up and immediately the suspect dumped the baby and ran outside.

The suspect however denied the allegations saying he only jumped into the compound after discovering that the gate to the house was locked and he entered into Mrs. Akinyemi’s room in search of the keys to the gate.

The Taskforce Chairman however stated that the suspect would be transferred to Lagos State Criminal Investigations Department, Panti, Yaba, Lagos for further investigations.
