One feared dead as cult groups clash in Ajegunle

There was apprehension in Ajegunle, Ajeromi Ifelodun Local Government (LCDA) after suspected cult members engaged in a free-for-all fight. During the attack, a man identified simply as Saheed was stabbed to death by rival cult members on Sunday, July 9, 2017.

In a separate attack involving the rival gangs, a bar popularly known as Second Chance belonging to the mother of one of the alleged gang member was also set ablaze.

Following the tension in the area, residents and shop owners are living in fear of a reprisal attack from the rival gang.

Meanwhile, famous Nigerian singer Daddy Showkey who shot into prominence with his ‘Galala’ single has cried out to the government to help stem the tides of incessant killings in Ajegunle.

In a post shared on his social media page, Daddy Showkey said the killers are giving Ajegunle a bad name. “We are trying to give Ajegunle a good name and some stupid idiots are busy killing our youths in Ajegunle. I am begging the Nigerian authority to come to the aid of the people of Ajegunle now, before they will kill every growing youth in Ajegunle.”

He further said that “I am begging the Nigerian authorities once more to come to the aids of our budding Ajegunle youths before things get out of hand and we (would be forced) to take laws into our hands. Please I am begging with tears in my eyes.”
