A 24-year-old man, Joseph Nwadinobi, is currently facing trial before an Ikeja Magistrate Court for allegedly robbing two residents of Ajileye Street, in the Ijedodo area of Ijegun, Lagos State. The suspect was charged by a police prosecutor, Inspector Benedict Aigbbokhan, on a four count charge bordering on robbery, assault and rape.
According to Inspector Aigbbokhan, the suspect and his accomplices who are at large, robbed one Maurice while armed with toy guns and cutlasses. The suspects made away with a laptop, clipper, camera, four phones, and cash of N36,000.
They also reportedly inflicted wounds on the victim’s head. Also, the suspects reportedly went to one Esther’s apartment who they took turns to rape when she told them she had no valuables. Aigbbokhan said that the incident was reported to the Special Anti-Robbery Squad, Lagos State Police Command, and a manhunt was launched for the suspects, which lead to Nwadinobi’s arrest.
The defendant’s plea was turned down by the presiding magistrate, Mrs. O.A. Akokhia. The magistrate, however, ordered that Joseph Nwadinobi be remanded in prison and adjourned the case till September 12, 2017.
