Anticipated riot in Ibeshe – Ikorodu; here’s why

In the aftermath of the death of an unidentified man in the Ibeshe end of the presently troubled Ikorodu community, there is an anticipated riot in the area.

The anticipated riot aimed at causing a disturbance in the area is planned as a revenge attack by the gang of the deceased, InsideMainland gathered.

In a viral message circulated on BlackBerry Messenger and WhatsApp, residents of Ibeshe are advised to be indoors from 8:00 pm today due to the root from cult gangs in the area.

“This is to notify all resident of Ibeshe in Ikorodu that there would be hot riot in Ibeshe as a result of the guy that died in the river last week when trying to escape from the SARS,” part of the message read.

“It got to our notice that the guy was a cult member so his brothers are revenging his death while the community are also ready to wage war against them.

“We are adviced to stay indoor as soon as it is 8pm. Though today is the 8 days he died, guys are doing candle night for which will include riot.

“Please safe life by posting to family and friends. May God protect us all,” the message read.

Speaking to InsideMainland, a source said the planned riot is as a result of the death of the man who died while trying to evade arrest from SARS officers attached to the Lagos State Police Command.

“The guy died eight days ago and there is a planned candle light procession for him tonight. Because he belonged to a cult group, his guys plan to riot after the candle light to cause disturbance in the area,” the course told InsideMainland.

“We do not want something like that in Ibeshe due to how heated the area and Ikorodu is presently,” the source added.

Meanwhile, the Onyabo Vigilante Group that has been part of the vigil held by Ikorodu residents to rid the area of the incessant attacks by the dreaded ritualist group otherwise known as Badoo disclosed that the operatives are not aware of the planned riot.

The member of the vigilante group however said they will be alert to prevent the breakdown of law and order in the community.
