Corps Members performing their Community Development Service (CDS) under Oshodi/Isolo Local Government, Lagos State, recently took its drug free sensitisation campaign to the pupils of Ewututu Grammar School, Oshodi.
The campaign was aimed at educating and enlightening the pupils on the dangers and consequences of drug abuse and taking drugs without the doctor’s prescription.
While addressing the pupils, one of the corps member, Miss Okpongu Sele-Ere, counseled participants to stay away from drugs and its attendant risks adding that tobacco, marijuana, tramadol and others are not the only drugs that can be abused.
She cautioned the pupils not to allow friends mislead or lure them into taking marijuana, tobacco, alcohol and the likes, warning that the consequences are costly and far outweighs the immediate pleasure.
“This exercise is to enable you understand what drug abuse is. When you take drug beyond or above the prescribed dose, it has become drug abuse and it is dangerous to our lungs, liver, and health generally,” she said.
Speaking further, the President of the Drug Free CDS group, Mr Benjamin Enweani said the campaign was aimed at sensitizing young people on the effect of drug abuse on the body.
