Following Inside Mainland’s report of an unidentified man apprehended by Ikorodu residents for carrying a sack which contained a young boy’s mutilated body, yesterday, June 8, 2017, recent information has shown that a pastor was behind the killing of the teenager.
InsideMainland gathered from sources that the suspect, Eric, led the Police and residents to the church of the pastor who also confessed to the crime.
Recall that residents of Odokekere community, Odogunyan, Ikorodu, arrested the suspect, Eric, after they noticed blood dripping from the sack he was carrying.
“When he was challenged to explain what he was carrying, he dropped the sack and fled the scene. He was chased by residents who overpowered him and dragged him to the spot where he abandoned the sack,” the source told InsideMainland.
“Upon opening the sack, the mutilated body of the body was discovered. He confessed to the residents and Police that there are others involved before leading them to the arrest of another culprit and the church where the boy’s head was buried.
“We were told that he is a friend of the boy’s dad and is known around the residence of the deceased. He also confessed to abducting the boy on Wednesday morning before he and his accomplices killed the boy the following day,” the source added.
During the process, the pastor was arrested by the security operatives after the boy’s head was discovered buried under the pulpit in the church.
Meanwhile, angry youths stormed the Sagamu Police Division located few meters away from the usually busy Ikorodu garage demanding jungle justice for the arrested suspects. The mob was however managed by the Police operatives before they called for a reinforcement team that dispersed the crowd.
The suspects have since been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Department, (SCCIID), Panti, ahead of investigation into the matter and prosecution.
Confirming the incident to News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), the spokesperson for the Lagos State Police Command, Olarinde Famous-Cole, said the suspects had confessed to the crime stressing that investigations have commenced on the matter.
“The suspects confessed that the deceased’s head was buried, while the body was kept in a canal. Investigation has commenced and the case would be transferred to the State Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Department, (SCCIID), Panti, Yaba,” he said.
