Ahead of the forthcoming council polls into elective positions across the 20 LGS and 37 LCDAs in Lagos State, aspirants and top political leaders are making plans to ensure they have a successful outing during the polls.
The council elections according to the Lagos State Independent Electoral Commission (LASIEC) would hold on Saturday, July 22, 2017.
In view of that, the InsideMainland champion profiling leading candidates across the 20 LGS and 37 LCDAs.
In this edition, the attention is on one of Ikorodu Local Government’s Chairmanship aspirant, Comrade Kehinde Okeowo.
Comrade Kehinde Okeowo was born into the family of Odusanya Mabogaje of Aga ward from the Ademoye compound in Ijomu and Arapatile compound in Itunmoja both in Ikorodu. Her rich family background places her in a vantage position to know and understand the needs of the community for proper governance.
She attended University of Benin Teaching Hospital, Community Training center for community health officers at Ekpoma, Benin for her Higher National Diploma (HND) and Ladoke Akintola University of Technology, Ogbomoso, for her Postgraduate Diploma in Social Work. Prior to this, she attended Lagos State school of Health Technology, Yaba, for her professional education in Community Health.
Her work experience took her round the nooks and crannies of the Ikorodu Local government and advantage that places her in better position to be aware of challenges and strengths of the area.
Comrade as she is fondly referred by her followers, Kehinde Okeowo is blessed in areas of leadership exposure at the social, educational and political levels. She is the Lagos State Woman Leader of Asiwaju Grassroots Foundation (AGF); Woman Leader. Jimi Benson iCare Foundation; President, Students’ Union, UBTH/CTCHO, Ekpoma; Branch Chairman, NULGE, Ikorodu local government; Welfare Officer, IBILE Forum; Coordinator, Lagos State Public Service Forum, Ikorodu among others.
Since she ventured into politics, her work and self-determination had allowed visit the nooks and crannies of the Ikorodu Local government. This also places her in better position to be aware of challenges and strengths of these areas.
