LASG denied it demolished Ikorodu-Sabo Market; calls it callous, unlawful

The Lagos State Government has denied involvement in demolition of structures at the popular Sabo Market, Ikorodu which occurred yesterday, Thursday, May 4, 2017.

You would recall that shop owners arrived their place of business yesterday to discover that the place have been pulled down with bulldozers while armed security officers were stationed at different parts of the market.

Speaking on the incident, LASG through the Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Mr. Steve Ayorinde termed the exercise as unlawful.

Ayorinde stated that the government was not involved in the demolition and also warned developers on consequences of unlawful demolitions.

He further assured Lagosians that “that government would no longer tolerate the connivance between desperate developers and local government or court staff to deny hard-working market traders of their means of livelihood.”
