An unidentified person has been confirmed dead with many others feared injured in multiple accidents which occurred at the usually busy Oshodi – Apapa expressway.
It was gathered that the accident which occurred yesterday, April 23, 2017, occurred around 3:00 am with four vehicles involved.
According to Vanguard, one of the vehicles, a tipper lorry loaded with gravel rammed into the rear of another lorry carrying vegetable oil at Ilasa bus stop. The accident led to the drivers of both lorries injured while the bus conductors on one of the lorries was trapped when it fell by its side.
Policemen from Ilasa Division were reportedly present at the scene to rescue the trapped victims following the auto crash.
Meanwhile, the officials of the Lagos State Ambulance Services (LASAMBUS) and other rescue officers visited the scene to tend to the victims and also rushed injured ones to the hospital for urgent care.
However, while the policemen were controlling motorists plying the highway, another speeding truck ignored the signal, and rammed into another commercial bus with number plate BDG 750 XQ.
During the crash, the impact caused the bus to somersault while the bus conductor was flung out leaving him dead on the spot. The crash also led to commuters suffering varying degrees of injuries.
The officials of Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA) and Lagos State Fire Service were called to the scene for emergency care.
