‘We hope for a quick resolution’ – LASPOTECH Management reacts to ongoing ASUP Strike

Following the indefinite strike action embarked upon by the Academic Staff Union of Polytechnics (ASUP), Lagos State Polytechnic chapter, the management of the institution of Excellence has reacted to the development.

According to the Deputy Registrar (Information)/Public Relations Officer of the school, Mr. Lanre Kuye, the management is currently making plans to resolve the matter quickly.

Kuye spoke with pressmen moments after an emergency congress held by ASUP to embark on the indefinite strike action.

In his words, “the Rector is aware of the decision of the union. The matter is definitely receiving deserved attention of the management and we are working towards quick resolution of the matter.”

The ongoing strike action by ASUP has crippled academic activities with the full time and part time classes of the institution currently affected.

The decision to embark on the strike was approved during an emergency congress held on Thursday, April 20,2017 at the Polytechnics’s campus Ikorodu, InsideMainland gathered.

Speaking on the protest, the chairman of ASUP LASPOTECH chapter, Comrade Akinrinlola Ibitoye stated that “the strike became necessary due to insensitive act of the management to honor the agreement reached with the union on the payment of the CONTISS 15 migration arrears.”

You would recall that InsideMainland extensively reported the strike action by ASUP officers in LASPOTECH in the last few months. During one of the strike protests, an official of ASUP openly wielded charms which frightened those present in the march.
