Bus conductor dies after falling off speeding danfo at Maryland

An unidentified bus conductor passed away yesterday, April 18 2017, after falling off a speeding yellow commercial bus popularly known as ‘danfo’ at the Maryland.

The incident occurred at around 5:00pm along the BRT corridor at the Maryland tunnel.

It was learnt that the bus, marked KSF 198 XF, entered the BRT lane from Anthony Village in order to beat traffic, while the conductor was hanging on the tail board of the vehicle.

As the bus driver was about to exit the tunnel, he applied brakes upon sighting the officials of Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA) which led to the conductor falling off in the process.

The Police and Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA) officials later visited the scene to evacuate the body of the deceased. Also, the Principal Fire Superintendent of the Lagos State Fire Service, Obafemi Ibrahim, led a team of fire fighters from Alausa to the scene to stop any fire breakout.

This incident is coming few days after another danfo crash at the Odo – Iyalaro end of Maryland. During the accident, two persons were completely burnt beyond recognition before their remains were recovered by rescue officers.
