Beneficiaries of Ikorodu lawmaker’s monthly food scheme to increase from 300 to 700

There is good news for aged ones, less privilege, widows, and vulnerable ones in Ikorodu Constituency as the lawmaker representing Ikorodu in the Federal House of Representatives. Hon. Babajimi Benson, has declared his intention to increase the number of beneficiaries in his monthly food scheme, ‘Apo Anu’.

The move by Hon. Jimi Benson which commenced in 2016, is part of his determination to further consolidate the pledge made to his constituency on the monthly distribution of food items to the needy in Ikorodu.

Speaking on the development, Hon. Jimi Benson who addressed his constituents at the distribution of ‘Apo Anu’ food items for the month of April which took place on Wednesday, April 12, 2017, at his constituency office in Ikorodu, said “the need to increase the number of beneficiaries is to allow more people such as the elderly ones and the widow benefit from the scheme.”

During the event, 300 bags containing rice, salt, beans, garri, and other essential staples were distributed to the beneficiaries drawn from across Ikorodu Federal Constituency.

Meanwhile, the increase according to the lawmaker will take effect from the month of May 2017. The plan to increase the number of beneficiaries would achieved in partnership with other organisations in Ikorodu Division.

The monthly food ration distributed to beneficiaries from Ikorodu Federal Constituency is an inititiative of Hon. Jimi Benson through his iCare Foundation.

Hon. Jimi Benson also revealed that his resolve at reducing hunger amongst the elders, widow, needy, vulnerable and others in need of food in the society motivates his philanthropic initiative, despite the challenging economic situation in the country.
