There was agony at Oke-Ota in Ibeshe Titun axis of Ikorodu community on Monday, April 11, 2017, after the fearless ritualist group, Badoo, murdered a family of three in cold blood.
The incident occurred at midnight on Monday with the victims executed in their home after the ritualists cut window nets and maneuvered the barricade to gain access into their apartment, InsideMainland gathered.
During the process, the Badoo group killed a teenager, Jonathan Ebhodagbe and his parents Mr. and Mrs. Lucky Ebhodagbe.
It was gathered that the victims were mutilated, leaving them with deep cuts before the serial killers hit them with heavy stones prior to their passing. They were then left in a pool of their own blood while the killers escaped.
A visit to the community yesterday, Thursday, April 14, 2017, showed residents in a worried state following the return of the ritualist group to the once peaceful community. While there was panic and the area scarcely populated, there was presence of stern looking youths who are ready to pounce on any suspected criminal caught in the area.
A source who spoke to our correspondent on condition of anonymity disclosed that no one knew about the incident until later on Tuesday afternoon after a neighbor noticed the break-in through the window and called the attention of others. “The incident happened on Monday but no one knew about it until a neighbour noticed the cut through their window. It was at this point that she raised an alarm and people rushed in to find the family already dead in their apartment,” he said.
“They were matcheted on the head, arms, thighs and on different parts of their body before being hit with a heavy stone,” the source added.
InsideMainland learnt that the security operatives from Ipakodo Police Division, Ebute – Ikorodu were called immediately to the crime scene after the discovery. “The Ipakodo Police came afterwards to take photos and pick the bodies of the deceased,” the source told InsideMainland.
It was gathered that the remains of the Ebhodagbes were deposited at the Ikorodu General Hospital morgue while investigations continue to the matter.
When our correspondent visited the Ipakodo Police Station, the officers on duty confirmed report of the incident. The officers added the division is investigating the case with support from the Lagos State Police Command.
You would recall that the Ibeshe community has been terrorized by the Badoo serial killers in the past. The residents lived in fear following the continuous attacks by the ritualist group which left many residents fleeing their homes in search of safety.
The Badoo group usually defile women, attack newly-weds before pouncing on the male folks found in the apartment. These actions by the fearless gang have however led to palpable fear among residents in parts of Ikorodu.
Furthermore, the ritualist group recently attacked a woman at Itamaga end of Ikorodu just when residents of Ibeshe, Ahmadiyya, and Olu Odo axes of Ikorodu were counting their losses to the gang. During that period, the community leaders adopted the use of the traditional ‘Oro’ while the area was under curfew from dusk to dawn to chase the group out of the community.
Meanwhile a resident who identified himself as Nonso Azuka called on the appropriate authorities to come to their aid in the community.
“We can’t continue to live in fear in a community that has known peace for a long time. These killings have continued for long. This is a call to the government, royal fathers, kingmakers and anyone who cares to please help find a solution to these killings,” he said.
