Apapa Marine Beach bridge to be closed for 29 days

The Apapa- bound carriageway of the regularly busy Apapa Marine Beach Bridge will be closed from today, Friday April 7, 2017 till May 8, 2017, the Site Manager, Simon Barakat, has said.

According to  Mr Barakat, the bridge will be closed for 29 days following the ongoing rehabilitation. “We will close the Apapa-bound carriageway on Friday evening and it will remain closed up till May,” he said.

While appealing to road users to be patient and use alternative routes, he said “we appeal to road users to slow down in its area and be more careful to use the diversions and respect traffic signs to check gridlocks.”

Barakat , a senior Engineer with Buildwell Plants and Equipment industries Ltd, added that “truck owners should avoid breakdowns within this period by maintaining their vehicles regularly.”

Meanwhile, the site manager disclosed that the repair done on the Ijora-Lagos bound carriageway is being replicated on the Apapa-bound carriageway, adding that foundation works under the bridge had been completed.

He however said that two major diversions had been created to avert gridlock.
