Few days after Lagosians occupied the streets of Lagos in demand of good governance, fairness, and total clampdown on corrupt practices in government, a myriad of other residents also staged another protest in Yaba today, February 9, 2017.
The protest was staged by eccentric media personality, Charles Oputa better known as Charly Boy alongside the Nigerian Labour Congress.
The march was joined by members of the Trade Union Congress (TUC) as well as other Nigerians protesting against the effects of bad governance, wasteful wickedness and insensitive leadership.
While giving an insight into the real reasons behind the protest, Charly Boy who earlier promised to stage the ‘mother of all protests’ in Abuja next month said via a statement on his social media page that “the political leadership is still in the habit of wastefulness, looting, stealing, embezzlement and ravaging of our common wealth.”
He continued that “bad governance is a failure of the governed just as much as it is a failure of Political Leadership. I am a realist and I understand the challenges this country is facing from decades of wasteful wickedness; insensitive Leadership; Mindless Looting and Audacious Criminality.
“#OurMumuDonDo: in the Face of Hopelessness I saw Hope with the #IstandWithNigeria Project; in the Midst of Excruciating Hunger I saw Defiance in the faces of our youths; In a Nation of Virtual Social Media Mouthing Youths I saw Foot Soldiers who are capable of Moving this Nation forward if the dream of nationalism is nurtured in the minds of all.”
“Change we know is hard in the Beginning; Messy in the Middle and Glorious in the end if there is a sincerity of purpose by the Leaders and the Led. The People; My Constituency; My fellow frustrated nigerians are the only people making sacrifices while the Political Leadership is still in the habit of Wastefulness, Looting, Stealing, Embezzlement and Ravaging of our Commonwealth.#OurMumuDonDo,” he concluded.
