On Saturday, February 4, 2016, residents of Ikorodu Community were once again in ecstatic mood as popular lawmaker, Hon. Babajimi Benson, representing Ikorodu Federal Constituency donated the monthly food ration to members of his constituency.
The event which is held on a monthly basis was staged at the iCare Food Bank which also houses the constituency office of the lawmaker.
The event had in attendance, Hon. Jimi Benson, who personally handed over the monthly ration to over 250 beneficiaries who get the food ration on a monthly basis.
According to Hon. Jimi Benson, “the food bank is aimed at reducing extreme hunger amongst the elderly ones, women, widows, and the needy who are constituents of Ikorodu Division.”
The lawmaker added that “I owe my people and constituency exceeding representation beyond legislative primary assignment. No one deserves to go hungry even if the country is currently battling to get out of recession. I made a promise to my people and I owe them on a monthly basis to ensure this promise is kept.”
Speaking to InsideMainland at the event, one of the beneficiaries, Alhaji Taofeeq said “to whom much is given, much is expected. I have been a part of this monthly ration since commencement and I continue to pray that Jimi prospers in all his endeavours.”
Beneficiaries of the food rationing were handed food items in branded ‘Aapo Anu’ bags. InsideMainland gathered that they were drawn from different parts of Ikorodu Division.
You would recall that Hon. Jimi Benson launched the iCare Food Bank in October 2016 in commeration of the World Food Day.
The event had in attendance religious leaders, royal fathers, party members, community development association leaders, and other dignitaries from Ikorodu, Ijede, Isiu, and Imota communities respectively.
