One month after the successful launch of the ‘Rent-To-Own’ housing scheme by Lagos State Government, Governor Akinwumi Amode has announced when the allocation of apartments to successful applicants in the scheme will commence.
Ambode disclosed this during the first 2017 Quarterly Town Hall Meeting which held at Ajelogo Housing Scheme, Ajelogo Market Road, Mile 12. The meeting is the first in the year 2017 and the sixth in the series since the governor came into office.
Speaking on the allocation process, Ambode said “allocation of apartments to qualified applicants of the ‘Rent-to-Own’ housing scheme will start next week.”
The governor added that the housing scheme has “4,355 units of Lagos Rent To Own scheme available and only 500 applicants are qualified for the initiative.”
You would recall that the housing scheme aimed at providing shelter for residents across the State was officially launched on Thursday, December 8, 2016.
During the launch, the State Commissioner for Housing, Hon. Gbolahan Lawal said “the scheme was inspired by the need to increase the number of Lagos residents that will have their feet in their home ownership ladder. It also plans to mitigate the negative effect of the current economic recession on citizens as the state has always been challenged by the arduous task of providing affordable and decent accommodation for the people of the state.”
The newly completed housing estates is available for as low as One million, Five Hundred Thousand naira (N1,500,000:00) after it was launched simultaneously across four different communities in Lagos.
The communities where the policies were launched include; Sir Michael Otedola Estate, Odoragunshin, Epe, CHOIS City, Agbowa, Alhaja Adetoun Mustapha Estate, Ojokoro and Oba Adeboruwa Estate, Igbogbo – Ikorodu.
