5 reasons why fans were angry with Itesiwaju Ipinle Eko concert

The much anticipated Itesiwaju Ipinle Eko concert put together by ‘Our Lagos, Your Lagos’ group held yesterday, Sunday, December 18, 2016, at the popular Ikeja City Mall, Alausa.

According to the organizers of the concert, the event was aimed at appreciating the giant strides of development under the slogan, “Lagos is working, Lagos is leading” witnessed across the state.

While the handlers of the event promised fans that the concert will harness music and messages as well as bring together a conglomeration of Lagosians from all walks of life in a unique way, the night failed to meet the expectations.

Below are some of the reasons why fans who trooped to the venue en-mass to enjoy a night filed with mind-blowing performances are livid with the event organizers.

  1. The show started late

Handlers of the event promised to kick start the event by 4:00pm but didn’t start until around 7:00pm. By this time, fans were already at the venue in numbers anticipating a one of a kind event.

The show started few hours late in the night and fans were made to keep themselves busy till the hosts eventually mounted the stage.

  1. No show for superstars

While the event organizers promised to showcase the best of music superstars to delight fans and other guests present, the music stars failed to show up for the event.

Often times, the hosts would announce that the music artistes were back stage but award winning rap act, Vector, was the only rated artiste that attended and performed at the event even after the organizers promised to bring the best hands.

Also, comic act, Seyi Law who was earlier announced as part of those that would entertain guests showed up late for the event.

  1. The show dragged too long

For a show that failed to showcase the best talents as earlier promised, the event dragged for too long as it crept into the early hours of this morning.

Fans were still waiting to have a feel of their superstars as earlier promised till the disc jockey of the night turned off his turntable around 4:00am this morning. It was at this point that fans realized the event had come to an end before finding their ways to their respective homes.

  1. Organizers deceived fans

At intervals during the event, organizers of the concert kept deceiving fans and other guests present that they have a lineup of top stars waiting in the backstage to thrill them to a night to remember.

This continued for a while and the hosts kept announcing names such as 9ice, Olamide, Phyno and more to be in the backstage but they failed to turn up.

This turned out to be a turnoff for fans who waited patiently for the event to start and felt betrayed in the process.

  1. Governor Ambode didn’t show up

Surprisingly, Lagos State Governor, Mr. Akinwunmi Ambode was announced by the organizers as one of the dignitaries to look forward to at the event. However, the Governor didn’t attend the concert which didn’t do any good to dousing the tension the failed superstars that failed to show up had already created.

While fans patiently awaited the arrival of Governor Ambode, he was hosting an evening of evening of music and camaraderie at Lagos House, Alausa, Ikeja, with top government dignitaries, political big wigs and more in attendance.
