There is an unconfirmed report that Ladipo market Oshodi has been shut down by the Lagos State government. This may be coming as a result of series of violent attacks amongst traders and thugs over the failed attempt to demolish about 2,000 shops in the Odo-Aladura section of the market also known as Bakassi.
There has been tension in the market over the last one week which resulted in the death of one of the traders, Anene Atasi. The trader was brutally attacked and shot in the head by thugs, he was rushed to LUTH Idi-araba but he died yesterday as a result of the injuries he sustained.

According to PM News, the Lagos Police commissioner, Fatai Owoseni has ordered the arrest of one Monday Lawrence, a cemetery attendant who is allegedly behind the attack and killing of the trader.

The report of Anene Atasi’s death sparked outrage and violent protests by the traders which resulted in the burning of the cemetery were Monday Lawrence works.
