Lagos State mobilise to dismantle traffic gridlock

The Ministry of Transportation has put together an inter-agency collaborative team to unlock traffic gridlock across the metropolis. The team which comprises Officers drawn from LASTMA, KAI, Task Force, VIS and the RRS would commence operations on the Ikorodu road axis covering Ojota, Ketu and Mile 12 in the first instance.

Briefing the team on the importance of the exercise, the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Transportation, Mr. Sewedo Oluseyi Whenu said the exercise is to complement the state-wide efforts of the LASTMA management in ensuring that all impediments and hindrances on the road and highway are removed so as to ensure free flow of traffic and reduce man-hour loss being experienced by motorists in the State.

The Permanent Secretary therefore called on all motorists, especially commercial bus drivers to obey all traffic rules and regulations as all traffic offenders would be penalised accordingly.

He said the State Government would no longer condone the culture of impunity and lawlessness being displayed by some drivers.
