The Deputy Vice Chancellor (Administration), Prof Duro Oni has debunked ongoing rumours that University of Lagos (Unilag) has been shut indefinitely following students protest over the death of Oluchi Anekwe, a 300 level Accounting female student, who was electrocuted on campus
‘’Unilag is not shut. We are in our offices and have attended various meetings. Lectures are ongoing and the campus is peaceful,’’ Prof. Oni said.
Similarly, the chairman of the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU), Dr. Laja Odukoya, said the information that the university was shut because of the protest was false. ‘’Normalcy has returned to the campus. I and my colleagues went to lecture our students and as I am speaking with, I am about going for another lecture. Peace has returned and our students are busy about with their lectures”, he explained.
