Police officer dies trying to arrest errant bus driver in Orile Lagos

A police officer attached to Orile Division has been reported dead in a motor accident on Tuesday August 25, 2015 around 9am while trying to apprehend a commercial bus (Danfo )driver, who was picking passengers along the road.

The tragic incident happened opposite Fatgbems Filling Station, along Oshodi-Apapa Expressway, while the deceased was attempting to apprehend the Danfo driver by jumping into the moving bus.

The bus driver in a bid to escape sped off and hit another car. The sudden stop made the policeman fall off the bus and a trailer ran over him, killing him instantly.

The commercial bus driver and his conductor took to their heels, abandoning the vehicle.

Operatives of Federal Road Safety Corps, FRSC, Lagos State Traffic Management Agency, LASTMA, and policemen from Trinity and Orile Divisions were there to ensure free flow of traffic as onlookers besieged the area.

The officers from the Trinity Police Division took the corpse of the Policemen to Orile Police Station and later to Mainland Hospital Mortuary, Yaba.
